Chris Pratt is on the promotion tour for his new Amazon Prime series ‘The Terminal List. ‘ The MCU member brought his humour and charm to general interviews. It was in one such discussion that the rumor of Pratt being interested in taking over the role of Indiana Jones popped up.
The actor put a definite end to the rumors. He also gave a very interesting reason for his answer and it has to do with Harrison Ford.
Chris Pratt Will Not Play Indiana Jones As He’s Scared Of Being “Haunted” By Harrison Ford’s Ghost
The ‘Parks and Recreation‘ alum was recently on the ‘Happy Sad Confused‘ podcast where he discussed the possibility of taking over the iconic role from Harrison Ford in potential remakes of ‘Indiana Jones‘. He said it was never going to happen.
He went on to explain the reason. The ‘Jurassic World Dominion‘ actor said he will forever turn down the role of the famous archaeologist because he is afraid Ford’s ghost will come back to haunt him.
“No, aren’t they doing ‘Indiana Jones’ with Harrison Ford?,” Pratt asked on the podcast. “All I know is I once saw a quote from Harrison Ford and I don’t even know if it was really him, but it was enough to scare me, that was like, ‘When I die, Indiana Jones dies.’ And I’m like, am I gonna get haunted by the ghost of Harrison Ford one day when he dies if I play…?“
While Pratt said he would never take the lead role in the franchise, he is no stranger to starring in blockbuster franchise movies. He is currently starring as the lead in the third instalment of the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy‘ franchise. His character makes frequent appearances in other Marvel films as well. He was also the lead in the latest ‘Jurassic World‘ trilogy.
Harrison Ford Clears The Air Of Being The Only Indiana Jones
In a 2019 appearance on ‘The Today Show,’ Ford made it clear that he is the one and only Indiana Jones, noting, “I’m Indiana Jones. When I’m gone, he’s gone. It’s easy.” This doesn’t leave much room for someone new to step in and make the role their own.
Ford is clearly attached to his character of Jones as he keeps returning to the role. He recently returned to the franchise for its fifth instalment, something co-star Antonio Banderas called incredible to see.
“The first day I arrived, I was in the makeup trailer, and I turned around and there he was in the full Indiana costume with the hat and the whip,” Banderas told USA Today. “I still remember the first time I saw ‘Indiana Jones’ in a theatre and the crowd was crazy about it. I thought, ‘This is like going back to the old adventure (movies) in a completely different way.'”
