Every actor has that one movie that sparked their career. This isn’t the case with Marvel’s epic hit ‘Deadpool & Wolverine‘ star Emma Corrin. They weren’t all immersed in movies.

The Crown‘ actor recently opened up about this self-consciousness. It also points largely to their work in theater, television, and the movie world as a whole!

Emma Corrin spoke to Variety for the Power of Women cover shoot, where they were honored as the first nonbinary PoW cover star.

They spoke about their upbringing, their background, their career, and most importantly, their love for theater. It is especially true in how it shaped how they viewed acting.

“I’ve always felt a bit self-conscious about how I’m not an actor with a story like, you know, ‘I watched Al Pacino at 12 years old and then thought, “This is for me.”’ I don’t really have a film that made me want to act. It was mainly theater.”

This is refreshing considering how most actors have a movie or an actor to look back to in most of the cases.

Christian Bale, Jim Carrey, and Leonardo DiCaprio all have one thing in common. They looked up to the veteran actors as inspiration, but it made one thing clear.

Not every actor’s rite of passage is the same, especially when it comes to film. Where stars idolized Robert DeNiro and Denzel Washington, growing up, it wasn’t the case with Emma Corrin.

One of the reasons why it happened was that they, along with their siblings, weren’t allowed to watch TV excessively while growing up.

Their career is rooted in theater, and it’s the very penchant for art that led them to pursue their dream of becoming an actor.

This is precisely why we see a sense of finesse and craftsmanship in both acting and singing when it comes to theater actors. It is evident in Corrin’s works and journey from Orlando to Deadpool & Wolverine
