Drake has had one of the most interestingly successful careers. Recently, he co-released an album with 21 Savage ‘Her Loss’. The album debuted at the No.1 position on Billboard 200. This is not the first time that the artist’s musical prowess has gotten him on the esteemed list. Along with a colorful career, he has had a colorful dating history. From dating an older woman to one of the pop icons Rihanna, he has had quite a dating life.
However colorful it might be, he has had some controversial relationships. Apart from dating an older woman in his 20s, there were conjectures which were proven true that he fathered a child, Adonis, with Sophie Brussaux secretly. The DNA test proved that it is indeed Drake and Sophie’s child. Then, he was in an interesting relationship with Rihanna, where the sparks were there, but the fuse went off on that one! But, one of his controversial relationships was with SZA, a lyricist and R&B artist. It was alleged that he dated her when she was underage. Is it true?

SZA Clarified That She Was Not Underaged When She Was Dating Drake
One of the most promising R&B artists today is Solana Imani Rowe aka SZA. The Missouri-born artist released her debut album in 2017 ‘Ctrl’. The album was an instant hit, and many young girls from the Black community felt empowered with the album. ‘Ctrl’ debuted at the No.3 position on Billboard 200. She has been a popular feature among many prominent music artists. Top Dawg Entertainment, along with Kendrick Lamar, signed SZA. She was featured in the ‘All The Stars’ from the 2018 ‘Black Panther’ and worked with Travis Scott. SZA has been a lyricist for Rihanna and Beyoncé.
Though they never collaborated, the Champagne Papi and the R&B princess dated each other back in 2008. Wait, there is confusion here! In 2020, 21 Savage and Metro Boomin featured Drake on ‘Mr. Right Now’. In the song, he raps, “Turn your phone off, take your clothes off, I’m a sav’, but I f*** her to a slow song, Yeah, said she wanna f*** to some SZA, wait, ’Cause I used to date SZA back in ’08. If you cool with it, baby, she can still play”.
This sparked relationship rumors between the two. But, the point of contention was her age. In the rap, he claims that he dated SZA in 2008, a year before she turned 18. Fans instantly started bashing Drake for dating an underage girl. But, the ‘Love Galore’ artist shut the rumors.
I just didn’t want anybody thinking anything underage or creepy was happening . Completely innocent . Lifetimes ago .

She Compares Him To Regina George
After five years, SZA released her most awaited album ‘SOS’. The buzz has been quite a lot since her major studio album ‘Ctrl’ was one of the most loved and critically and commercially successful. But, the artist did not disappoint her fans with the album. Both critics and fans have hailed the album as one of the finest. The massive 23-track album is unhinged in its approach to the artist’s past heartbreaks. Surprisingly, on the title track, she sampled Drake’s ‘Champagne Poetry’ from her 2021 album ‘Certified Lover Boy’.
SZA appeared as the musical guest for December 3rd, 2022’s ‘Saturday Night Live’. During her appearance, the cast staged a sketch titled ‘The United Tingz of Aubrey’, a parody of all of his exes forming a union. Ironically, Drake also allegedly dated SZA as we mentioned. So, during the podcast episode of Audacy’s ‘Check-In’ podcast, she reacted to the sketch.
She said, “In a strange way, I was like, ‘Did they know?’. But they didn’t ask me to be in it. Nobody said anything. … I feel like Drake has a Regina George quality to him where it’s just kind of like, ‘Have you or anyone you know been personally victimized?’ He’s like a cool kid, you know”.
She continued, “When you’re the popular kid in school, it’s entertaining. It’s entertaining, but you sometimes are taking losses in the midst of that entertainment. The honesty, I respect that. But I definitely laughed real hard…I cackled”.
