Did Dwayne Johnson Confirm The Return Of Henry Cavill As Superman To DCEU?

DCEU is bracing itself for a grand revamp with the upcoming film Black Adam’. The character was to be introduced in 2019’s ‘Shazam.’ However, DC decided to have a standalone film that will star Dwayne Johnson in the titular role. With all the excitement surrounding the DC line-up, fans are still hopeful for the arrival of Henry Cavill as Superman.

The Kryptonian made his celluloid debut with ‘Man Of Steel’ in 2013. The last appearance of the most beloved DCEU superhero was in Zack Snyder’s ‘Justice League’ in 2017. Post that, there has been nothing more than rumors about the return of Superman. However, there may be a reignition of hope for the fans as Dwayne Johnson may have hinted at his return.

The Rock and DC have been on a promotional roll for the new anti-hero drama. Since the release of the posters, it has piqued the audience’s interest. In one of the promotional interviews, Johnson explained how it is important to listen to the fans. In a video, he said, “I was also listening to the fans at the same time, where we have Black Adam.” He then cited the reason for mounting the character. “We created Black Adam[to be] one of the powerful and unstoppable forces on this planet.”

He further, cryptically, hinted at Superman telling that he has been on the sidelines too long. Dwayne said with a pause and smirk, “The most powerful and unstoppable force in the entire universe is been on the sidelines for too long.”

There have been talks about the reintroduction of Superman sans Henry Cavill. After the merger between Discovery and Warner Bros., the CEO wanted to revitalize the “top shelf characters.” However, it is a far-fetched ambition. 2023’s ‘The Flash’ could have had a post-credit scene teasing the return of Clark Kent. Nonetheless, the new timeline in ‘The Flash’ will feature the gender-swapped version of Superman, ‘Supergirl.’
