Elon Musk is one of the world’s wealthiest men. Over the past few years, he started several companies including The Boring Company, SpaceX, and Tesla Inc. These companies increased his wealth and made him a top name in the business world. But he wasn’t always like this.
Recently, the 51-year-old responded to the claims that his father Errol Musk sold some of his stake in the Emerald mines to fund Musk’s first business venture. The Twitter chief stated he did not have a happy childhood in South Africa. So let’s find out in detail what he said.
Elon Musk Talks About His Childhood
Elon Musk has had a meteoric rise in the business world. But even he, just like many, started out small. However, recently a user refuted the claims that he had to struggle financially in the US.
Taking to Twitter, Musk quashed these rumors. “I grew up in a lower, transitioning to upper, middle-income situation, but did not have a happy childhood“, he wrote. “Haven’t inherited anything ever from anyone, nor has anyone given me a large financial gift.”

He further added, “My father created a small electrical/mechanical engineering company that was successful for 20 to 30 years, but it fell on hard times. He has been essentially bankrupt for about 25 years, requiring financial support from my brother and me.”
Musk stated that his father, Errol Musk, taught him physics, engineering, and construction which is “more valuable than money” for him. The billionaire also stated that he supports Errol financially so that he does not “engage in bad behavior.”

Musk Promises To Give A million Dogecoin To Someone Who Proves The Emerald Mine Claim
A few days ago, Musk said that he will pay a million in dogecoin to someone who proves that his father owned the Emerald mine. He also said that “there is no objective evidence whatsoever” that it even existed.
After his tweet, his mother Maye Musk also shed some light on their early life. She said that the family moved to Toronto in 1989 and lived in a one-bedroom apartment. They eventually found a rent-controlled apartment, which took them three weeks to clean.
“We all worked, were happy and optimistic. The first I heard of an emerald mine was on @Twitter about 10 years ago,” she tweeted.
