‘Cocaine Bear’ director behind the scenes

While talking to Variety about her latest film, Elizabeth Banks expresses her admiration for directing the story of ‘Cocaine Bear.’ Still in the process of discovering her artistic sensibilities, she can’t adhere to anyone else’s vision.

The last project Elizabeth Banks looked forward to was Marvel’s ‘Thor.’ She was “really interested” in directing ‘Thor: Ragnarok.’ The actor-director’s attraction to sensibility is why she believes she could have made something great out of Chris Hemsworth’s comedic awareness.

Calls were made about Elizabeth Banks making a possible pitch for the gig. However, she never heard back from the bosses at the studio. She said, “No one called me [back]. Taika Waititi got the job. Rightfully so.

Kristen Stewart, Ella Balinska, and Naomi Scott in ‘Charlie’s Angels’ reboot

After a successful directorial debut with ‘Pitch Perfect 2‘, the actor-director makes a reboot of ‘Charlie’s Angels.’ Unfortunately, the film doesn’t work. To add insult to injury, audiences and critics agreed about the film’s failings. With ‘Cocaine Bear,’ Elizabeth Banks is aware of the risks.

For ‘Cocaine Bear,’ Elizabeth Banks wasn’t afraid of the material’s wackiness. The stranger-than-fiction premise is an unsafe bet. We are seeing how R-Rated comedies are drastically underperforming at the box office.

Cocaine Bear‘ is inspired by the real story of a 175-pound American black bear that dies after ingesting a duffel bag full of cocaine. It opens in theatres on February 24, 2023.
