Elon Musk‘s tryst with Twitter has been filled with chaos and uncertainty. Ever since he took over the social media giant in October last year, the company has been going through some seismic shifts. This includes mass layoffs, non-payment of office rent, and the introduction of Twitter Blue.
Recently, the company rolled out the polarizing feature on the platform and revoked legacy badges from all the accounts. The South African billionaire also tweeted that from now on, verified accounts on the platform will be given priority. So let us find out what that really means.

His statement comes just days after the social media giant has been embroiled in controversy regarding the removal of the blue check marks of several users. Several high celebrities have retained their blue check marks despite not paying for the subscription.
This includes Stephen King, LeBron James, and William Shatner. Musk has said that he is personally paying for their monthly subscription fee. Several other users like Jack Black also continue to have their badges despite not paying for them.

Musk Was Involved In A Feud With Stephen King
After Twitter retained novelist Stephen King‘s verified badge, he tweeted that he does not require it and asked Musk to donate the sum to charity. “I think Mr. Musk should give my blue check to charity,” he wrote. “I recommend the Prytula Foundation, which provides lifesaving services in Ukraine. It’s only $8, so perhaps Mr. Musk could add a bit more,” King tweeted.
The billionaire responded: “I’ve donated $100M to Ukraine, how much have you donated?” He then also said that his company SpaceX has been hit financially for providing Starlink services in war-torn Ukraine.
Right after the legacy badges ended, King took to the platform and informed everyone that he has not provided any information to Twitter, nor is he going to pay for the subscription fee.
