All About ‘Gladiator 2’ Plot
The death of Maximum (Russell Crowe) isn’t the end of the story. There were still plans to bring him back to life in the sequel. For a long time, a screenplay written by Nick Cave circulated on the internet. It has all sorts of extreme storytelling scenarios, from Maximus battling the depths of hell to fighting the Vietnam War. However, this version of the movie never came to fruition.
There’s no official logline for this project yet. However, the casting of Paul Mescal gives us a major indication of things to expect from ‘Gladiator 2‘. Paul Mescal is cast as the adult Lucious. In ‘Gladiator,’ Lucious (played by Spencer Treat Clarke) is the nephew of Commodus. Despite being an heir to the throne, he’s taken by Maximus’ bravery. Who Will Be In The Cast Of ‘Gladiator’ Sequel?
Oscar-nominee Paul Mescal is the first name attached to the project. He is playing the adult Lucious, who could be playing the titular fighter in Ridley Scott’s directed sequel. Another Oscar nominee, Barry Keoghan, is in talks to join the ranks of the long-gestating sequel. He will play Emperor Geta if he comes on board. But the most exciting casting news is Denzil Washington is in final negotiations for ‘Gladiator 2‘ according to Deadline.
The sequel will reunite Denzil Washington and Riddley Scott, who last worked on ‘American Gangster’ in 2007. It’s still unknown if any of the characters from the previous films will return for the sequel. Veteran British director Ridley Scott returns to direct the sequel of his Oscar-winning film ‘Gladiator.’ David Scarpa is writing the script for ‘Gladiator 2‘.
