Every year November 3rd is celebrated as ‘Godzilla Day’. The very first film in the series was released in Japan on November 3rd, 1954. Since then, the film proved to be a commercially viable franchise for the Japanese film company Toho. The Americanized versions of the films from the franchise did good numbers.
The franchise has raked $563,286,602 domestically. However, the last film released by Toho in Japan was ‘Shin Godzilla’ before Legendary took over the franchise and started the MonsterVerse creating series. Now, after five years, Toho has announced a new project.

Takahashi Yamazaki Will Helm The New Project
Toho, on their official Twitter account, announced a new film. The film company has been making films since the 1930s, but its longest-running franchise has been ‘Godzilla’, which gave birth to various films and alternate franchises like ‘King Kong’. It formed ‘Toho International’ for the distribution of films worldwide with re-edited versions of the Japanese language films for the audience in the West.

But, the film company still catered to the Japanese audience since the inception of one of the highest-grossing franchises on the land. Now, for the next year’s celebrations , Toho will present the audience with a new project helmed by Takahashi Yamazaki. He has directed films like ‘Stand By Me Doraemon’, ‘The Fighter Pilot’, and ‘Lupin III’. The fans speculated that the film may be a sequel to the 2016 released ‘Shin Godzilla’.

The ‘Godzilla Day’ Will Be Inundated With Nostalgia, Movie Screenings, And Movie-Themed Foods
It is without a doubt that the fanfare fervor for November 3rd every year is large. The film company also makes sure the fans of the franchise have a great time at the event. This year, there will be a screening of the 2002 film ‘Godzilla against Mechagodzilla’. In collaboration with Drafthouse, Toho International will also screen the original 1954 film. The film will be screened in Japanese with English subtitles.
At the mega, monster brawl event, there will be online Trivia along with virtual gaming. The event will also have coffee, and hot sauces based on the titular character. The managing director of Toho International said, “Godzilla means so much to generations all over the world, and we’re thrilled to be partnering with incredible collaborators to honor the world’s most famed and destructive prehistoric sea monster by offering our fans a chance to participate in screenings, gaming contests, and more for this year’s Godzilla Day.”
