Weinstein Made His Final Plea
Right before the sentencing was ruled, Weinstein made his final plea to Judge Lisa B. Lench in the court. “I maintain that I’m innocent,” he said. “This is about money and coming after me”.
He further said, “Please don’t sentence me to life in prison. I don’t deserve it… There are so many things wrong with this case. There is no evidence… This is a setup… I beg your mercy.”
His legal team asked the judge to reduce the sentence to three years, owing to his old age and health. “These are not easy decisions to make, but this is my decision,” Lench said while announcing the sentence.
All the charges were from Jane Doe, a European model who said that Weinstein raped her in a Hotel in 2013. She appeared and testified in court, accompanied by her daughter.
