In this study, the researchers utilized alcohol consumption figures from 204 nations and discovered that 1.34 billion individuals consumed unhealthy levels of alcohol in the year 2020. According to their findings, guys between the ages of 15 and 39 who consume dangerous amounts of alcohol are at the greatest risk globally. As a consequence of this, the guys in this age range were found to constitute the biggest portion of the population in every location that consumed a dangerous quantity of alcohol.

According to what they found, persons in this age range account for around sixty percent of all alcohol-related injuries. These injuries include suicides, murders, and accidents involving motor vehicles.

“In young people, consumption is high as compared to older people. There’s also peer pressure involved in this age group. Most start drinking during college and office. Because of low salaries, they usually drink cheap alcohol, leading to acute liver injuries,”  Dr. Shrey Srivastav stated.

He went on to say that acute hepatitis is a prevalent worry among younger people as a result of their increased usage of alcohol. “They have young liver which is much more prone to injuries that can lead to other problems including multi-organ dysfunction, and heart, kidney, and spleen tissues. Further, this could lead to rupture of the esophagus at a very early age. Liver transplantation rate is also higher in younger alcoholic patients because of higher impact.”
