‘Barbie’ is all set to be released on July 21, 2023, and while the cast members are busy promoting the film, a new report has come out revealing that Michael Cera was left out of the Barbie group chat.
The news comes after the lead cast members of the film, including Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, America Ferrera, Issa Rae, Simu Liu, and others participated in a big group chat. While the report of Cera being left out went viral, he revealed that he had a flip phone.

Michael Cera Reveals The Reasons For Not Being Included In ‘Barbie’ Group Chat
Michael Cera portrays the role of Ken’s friend Allen in the upcoming ‘Barbie’ movie. In an interview with People, he was asked about why he was excluded from the chat and he replied by saying that he had a flip phone.
Cera added that he was happy that he was not a part of the chat because he believes Allan might be texting all the Barbies and Kens in his spare time. Stating that Allan belongs to his own world, he continued; “Greta [Gerwig]’s gift for me when I arrived was a picture disc of NSYNC’s No Strings Attached, which felt like somehow a real guiding light in the backstory of his character.“
In another interview in February 2023, Cera said that he has maintained his distance from smartphones, describing it as a conscious choice. He mentioned that he might lose control of his life if he starts using a smartphone.

Michael Cera’s Reason For Avoiding Smartphones
Michael Cera spoke to The Hollywood Reporter in February 2023, where he said that he has a fear in terms of using smartphones. He even recalled an experience where he saw one of his friends using a Blackberry and for the entire time, the friend was typing emails making him feel lonely and bored.
Meanwhile, there are no smartphones in the world of Barbie which seems to be a good change for Cera. Cera’s character in the film has been revived many times and it started as Ken’s friend in the beginning.
