“I Was Very Proud Of Those Guys”: George Clooney Pitches Louvre Heist Inspired ‘Ocean’s 14’

George Clooney has finally spoken out about the real-life jewel heist that stunned Paris, and his response is nothing like what anyone expected. The actor, best known as thief Danny Ocean, shared his candid thoughts on the Louvre robbery and even hinted at how it could tie into the next Ocean’s movie. But what he revealed left fans wondering if life had just imitated his own iconic art.

The daring Louvre heist has captured global headlines after thieves escaped with more than $100 million worth of historic jewels from the world-famous museum. While most people responded with shock and outrage, Clooney couldn’t hide his amusement. Speaking to Variety on the Jay Kelly red carpet in Hollywood on October 23, 2025, Clooney admitted that he was very proud of the culprits and called the operation cool and terrible.

Clooney joked that as a “professional thief” on screen, he appreciated how well they pulled it off. “They seem to have done a pretty good job at getting away with it,” he said, his trademark grin intact. He also reflected on how impressively the plan had been executed, wondering aloud if the group would ever be caught.

During another interview, Clooney remarked that what amazed him most was the timing; the heist took place in broad daylight. While laughing, he added, “Every place gets robbed, I guess.” And soon, he sparked an idea that only someone like Danny Ocean himself could dream of.

Not one to miss a cinematic opportunity, Clooney turned the real-life crime into creative inspiration. When asked about the next Ocean’s sequel, the actor playfully suggested that Ocean’s 14 should take its cue straight from the Louvre job. He said laughing, “I think we should rob the Louvre,” he said with a laugh, before adding, “But somebody’s already done it.

Clooney, who has been teasing the sequel for weeks, continued the joke with the Associated Press, saying filmmakers should digitally add him into the actual heist footage. He added, “You gotta put me in, CGI me into that basket coming out of the Louvre.” And the actor’s comments have now fueled the fire of speculations among the fans.

Earlier this month, Clooney confirmed that Warner Bros. had officially approved the film’s budget. Additionally, a “great script” is already in place. He even added that filming is expected to begin in about nine or ten months once schedules align. Not only that, but Clooney also discussed the upcoming Ocean’s prequel. The prequel will probably star Margot Robbie and Bradley Cooper.

While he revealed that the duo would play his character’s parents, he, however, wouldn’t have creative input on the film. However, he praised the cast as “very gifted and talented” and is looking forward to watching it as a fan. Now, fans can’t help but wait for the iconic Danny Ocean leading one last, impossible heist.
