‘Hannah Montana‘ is an American musical comedy television series, which debuted on March 24, 2006, on Disney Channel. The plot revolves around a young girl from Tennessee. Miley Stewart might seem like your average girl, but she isn’t. She moves to Malibu, California, and tries to adapt to her new lifestyle. The series focuses on this girl who lives a double life as an average teenage school girl named Miley Stewart by day and a famous pop singer named Hannah Montana by night, concealing her real identity from the public, other than her close friends and family.
According to ‘The Daily Dispatch‘, the TV series held a global audience of 200 million viewers in 2008. “If Miley’s viewers were a country, they would be the fifth largest population in the world – just ahead of Brazil,” they reported. There are a total of 98 episodes and 4 seasons with a one-hour series finale. It’s pretty obvious that the series is a big hit, but was it because of Miley Cyrus? Who else could have helmed the show?

Our Childhood Star Hannah Montana Could Have Been Different
Lisa London, the casting director of ‘Hannah Montana‘ and other shows like ‘Freaks’, ‘The House Bunny‘, and ‘Grandma’s Boy‘ confirmed the last cut-out list of the show. She revealed the two other actresses who were in the running to play Hannah Montana before Miley Cyrus landed the role. She said it came down to ‘Listen up!‘ star Daniella Monet and ‘Gossip girls’‘ Taylor Momsen for the role of Chloe (which was later changed to Miley).
The news made Twitter imagine the show without Miley Cyrus and fans wasted no time in bombing it with their views.

Was Choosing Miley A Good Decision?
When Cyrus auditioned for ‘Hannah Montana‘ she was just eleven years old. The directors thought that she was way too “young and small” for the part and wanted someone a little older to play the Disney superstar. Eventually, the lead role did come to Miley and the show was not only a massive success but it also launched the acting and music career of its star.
After giving the role to her, the producers also decided to change the lead’s name from Chloe to Miley. In a way, one can say that Miley Cyrus beautifully blended with the personality of Miley Stewart. Fans agree that they could not imagine anyone else on the show. The decision to cast Miley as Hannah Montana was a success both for the show as well as for young Cyrus.
“There was a very long auditioning process, and many chemistry reads which really is what sold the show to the producers and channel because no matter what went on over the years (which none of you have any clue about but it was like The Real World but [with] more hormonal teenagers), our love for each other was unquestionable. Even though I feel disconnected to who I was at that time I will always feel eternally grateful for the opportunity and platform I was given…” said Cyrus about the show.
