On 24 February this year, Russia invaded Ukraine as a part of the Russo-Ukrainian war that began in 2014. Vladimir Putin, the Russian President, said that he wants to “demilitarise and denazify” the country.

The war has caused the largest refugee crisis in Europe since the second world war. Nearly 7.0 million Ukrainians have left the country and a third of the population is displaced.

The Russian forces have continued to bomb military and civilian targets in places like Kyiv, Lviv, Serhiivka near Odesa, and Kremenchuk.

Several countries and organizations have condemned this invasion which led to a series of bans and sanctions on Russia. The International Court of Justice has ordered Russia to suspend military operations.
