Zac Efron Talks About His ‘Baywatch’ Body Transformation
There are certain physical physiques that have forced people to hit the gym. Zac Efron’s body in the 2017 film ‘Baywatch‘ is one of them. But the actor has opened up about the dark side of such a chiseled body.
In an interview with Men’s Health magazine for his October cover story, the ‘Dirty Grandpa’ actor talks about how the transformation affected his mental as well as physical health.
“That ‘Baywatch’ look, I don’t know if that’s really attainable,” he said. “There’s just too little water in the skin. Like, it’s fake; it looks CGI’d and that required Lasix, powerful diuretics, to achieve. So I don’t need to do that. I much prefer to have an extra, you know, 2 to 3% body fat.”
Efron talked about the toll it took on his health. “I started to develop insomnia, and I fell into a pretty bad depression, for a long time. Something about that experience burned me out. I had a really hard time recentering,” he said.

“Morally, of course, I still wish I was vegan,” he said. The actor is one of the few to switch back to eating meat after declaring his vegan status. But he still drinks apple cider vinegar with every meal.
Zac also addressed the rumors about his jawline which look different now. This led to speculations that he underwent cosmetic surgery. Turns out that his masseter muscles are used for chewing. During filming, Efron broke his jaws that had to be stitched. This resulted in the muscles growing exponentially.
“The masseters just grew,” he said. “They just got really, really big.” Zac will be next seen in the action comedy film ‘The Greatest Beer Run Ever.’
