No one can replace your parents. And it is a brave act that a parent lost their life for the country. Scotty’s Little Soldiers are a charity for bereaved military children who have experienced the death of a parent serving in the British Armed Forces. Prince Harry wrote a letter to these children on Remembrance Sunday sharing his love and thoughts with them.
The charity organization work to ensure that no bereaved military child is alone and they have connections to the military community. The Duke of Sussex was part of the charity for some years now. And he shares a bond with the children that he addresses in the letter. Here is more about the beautiful and heartfelt letter that the royal wrote to the children.
Prince Harry Writes An Heartfelt Letter
The Prince connected with the children who lost their parents while in the British Armed Forces. “We share a bond even without ever meeting one another because we share in having lost a parent. I know first-hand the pain and grief that comes with loss and want you to know that you are not alone,” he penned down. He shared with them the fact that had also lost his mother Princess Diana at the age of 12.
“While difficult feelings will come up today as we pay tribute to heroes like your mum or dad, I hope you can find comfort and strength in knowing that their love for you lives and shines on. Whenever you need a reminder of this, I encourage you to lean into your friends at Scotty’s Little Soldiers,” he continued. He comforted the kids through his letter and told them to depend on the organization.
The Duke also shared a way to cope with the absence they have in life. He encouraged the children to depend on the people around them.“One of the ways I’ve learned to cope has been through community and talking about my grief, and I couldn’t be more grateful and relieved that you have amazing people walking beside you throughout your journey. We all know some days are harder than others, but together those days are made easier.”

Children Shared Their Happiness In Receiving The Letter
On Remembrance Sunday, 55 members of the Scotty’s Little Soldiers and their parents marched in the National Service of Remembrance parade in London. They wore yellow and black scarves. Harry had also mentioned the parade in his letter. He pointed out how the parade would bring awareness to other people who have similarly lost a parent. Scotty’s Little Soldiers also shared their happiness through their website, thanking the Prince for his love and concern.
The charity was set up by a war widow Nikki Scott in 2010 following the death of her husband the previous year. “Our members know that he truly understands what it’s like to grow up without a parent and it means so much to them to know his thoughts are with them. To receive his letter on Remembrance Sunday has given them a huge boost on a proud but difficult day,” Nikki said in a statement. The Little Scotties also shred their gratitude and love for the Prince through the website.
