Alec Baldwin has been involved in several legal troubles post the unfortunate shooting incident that took place on the sets of ‘Rust.’ The incident, which happened on October 21, 2021, highlighted the issue of gun safety and the treatment of employees on Hollywood film sets.
Recent media reports are saying that Baldwin, who was the lead actor and one of the producers of the film, will be relieved of a charge. A bullet fired from a prop gun by Baldwin had killed the film’s cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. So let’s find out which charges against him are being dropped.

Manslaughter Charge Against Alec Baldwin To Be Dropped
The special prosecutors in the ‘Rust‘ shooting case which resulted in the death of Halyna Hutchins, are planning to drop the manslaughter charge against Alec Baldwin. According to Variety, the prosecutors announced this news on Thursday.
Kari Morrissey and Jason Lewis, the two prosecutors overlooking the case, have said that they won’t be moving forward with the charges against Baldwin in the allotted time as new facts have emerged.
However, they have said the investigation will remain “active and ongoing” with the possibility of refilling the charges. In a statement, Baldwin’s lawyer said: “We are pleased with the decision to dismiss the case against Alec Baldwin and we encourage a proper investigation into the facts and circumstances of this tragic accident.”

Baldwin Could Have Faced 18 Months Prison Time Because Of The Charge
The actor was accused of firing negligently from his gun on the film’s set which also fatally injured the director Joel Souza. Baldwin continues to maintain that he did not pull the trigger and was unaware that it had live rounds.
His lawyer presented that the Colt .45, which Baldwin was using, was modified before the shooting took place. This complicated the matters for the D.A. to prove Baldwin’s involvement in pulling the trigger.
In February this year, Baldwin was dropped from a five-year gun enhancement charge. His legal team had argued that the law did not apply when the incident took place in 2021.
