Ryan Reynolds Unveils The Reason For Doing Barbie
The ‘La La Land‘ actor returned to The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon on Thursday night for the first time in more than a decade. He talked about his role as Ken, Barbie’s boyfriend, in the upcoming film starring Margot Robbie.
Greta offered him the role of Ken and Ryan mentioned that the script, written by Gerwig and Noah Baumbach, is the “best script I’ve ever read.”
However, the 41-year-old actor then went into his backyard to “think about it” and found a Ken doll “face-down in the mud next to a squished lemon.” He took a photo of it, sent it to Gerwig, and told her “I shall be your Ken. For his story must be told.”
Both Fallon and Ryan then talk about the character of Ken and how his look broke the internet. Fallon said, “As though they ever thought about Ken for a second before this. They never thought about Ken…He’s an accessory and not even one of the cool ones. Underappreciated character, Ken…He was available. He stayed in the toy box.”
‘Barbie’ is slated to release on July 21, 2023.
