‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ is a huge success

The 29th movie in MCU and the fourth individual Thor film made a mark at the box office. It recorded the third-best opening of the pandemic era in the U.S. behind ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness‘. It earned a total of $143 million at the domestic box office. ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ did well overseas as well. It earned a total of $159 million from the international box office which makes the total go up to $302 million.

Thor movies are not famous for such a grand opening. The first ‘Thor’ debuted at $65.7 million in 2011, followed by $85.7 million for ‘Thor: The Dark World’ in 2013. Thor: Ragnorok fared the best at $122.7 million in 2017. Now, the fourth part is among the top five in the list of highest-grossing movies after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Can the film hit $1 billion?

Now the one question in the minds of fans is whether the movie will be able to cross the $1 billion mark. As this movie is the first from the Thor franchise to have such a successful opening, fans have a lot of expectations from the film.

The $1 billion mark rides on a lot of factors. The biggest factor is the market in three particular regions – the U.S., Europe, and China. If the movie becomes a huge success in China, then fans can expect ‘Thor: Love and Thunder‘ to hit the milestone of $1 billion.
