Former US President Donald Trump has called actor Robert De Niro a “total loser” and “unwatchable“, in response to the actor’s criticism of him made during the Gotham Independent Film Awards. Responding on Truth Social, Trump said De Niro’s talents have “greatly diminished” and his reputation is “shot.”
“Robert De Niro, whose acting talents have greatly diminished, with his reputation now shot, must even use a teleprompter for his foul and disgusting language, so disrespectful to our Country,” Trump wrote on Sunday night.
Ex-US President Says De Niro Has Made A Mess Of Himself
The statement came a week after the Gotham Film Festival where De Niro had criticized Trump for lying during his governance, his approach towards nature, and his usage of foul language.
In his response, Trump said that De Niro should focus on his own life, which he claimed is a “mess“, according to Daily Beast.
“He has become unwatchable both in movies and with the FOOLS that destroyed the Academy Awards, bringing them from one of the top shows in the Country to a Low Rated afterthought. De Niro should focus on his life, which is a mess, rather than the lives of others,” the 77-year-old ex-president said.
“He has become a total loser, as the World watches, waits, and laughs!” Trump added.

De Niro Takes Jibe At Donald Trump During Gotham Awards
The clash stems from De Niro’s speech at the Gotham Independent Film Awards wherein he claimed that Trump has lied over 30,000 times during his presidency. The actor has previously called out Trump, publicly displaying his dislike for him.
“The former president lied to us more than 30,000 times during his four years…Years in office and he’s keeping up the pace in his current campaign of retribution,” De Niro said during the speech.
“But with all his lies, he can’t hide his soul,” he continued. “He attacks the weak, destroys the gifts of nature, and shows disrespect, for example, by using Pocahontas as a slur. Filmmakers, on the other hand, strive.”
The speech was allegedly censored. But he was later asked to improvise it. De Niro later said that he is disappointed at Apple and the Gotham Awards for editing his speech.
“So, I’m going to say these things but to Apple and thank them and all that Gotham, blah, blah blah Apple, but who?” De Niro said. “I don’t feel like thanking them at all for what they did.”
“How dare they do that, actually,” he added before he left the stage.
