Donald Trump Files Defamation Suit Against CNN
Donald Trump was often called out by the media for the false information as well as his bizarre speeches. This is why he never had a healthy relationship with the news channels.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the former President has sued CNN, seeking $475 million in damages. He said that the network had defamed him in an effort to short-circuit any future political campaign.
Filed in U.S. District Court in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, the defamation suit focuses mainly on the term “The Big Lie” about Trump’s false claims of rampant fraud. He says it’s the reason behind him losing the 2020 presidential election to Joe Biden.
During his presidency, Trump always attacked CNN as they were critical of him. His lawsuit claims “The Big Lie,” a phrase with Nazi connotations, has been used to refer to him more than 7,700 times on CNN. “It is intended to aggravate, scare and trigger people,” he said.

Trump Plans To File Similar Lawsuits Against Other Organizations
The former President also plans to file defamation lawsuits against other organizations. In the past, similar lawsuits have led him to no success. A case in point is the suit against Twitter.
His case against Twitter for banning him from the platform following January 2021, U.S. Capitol insurrection was thrown out by a California judge earlier this year.
Several federal and local election officials in both parties, different courts, top former campaign staffers, and even his own attorney general have said there is no evidence of the election fraud.
In a statement Monday, Trump also stated that he will bring “appropriate action” against the House committee investigating the Capitol attacks. He recently hinted that he might run for the presidency again in 2024.
