Elon Musk has had a long and messy battle with the social media giant, Twitter. The South African Billionaire created headlines earlier this year after he backed out from buying the company. It was mainly because of (according to Musk) a lack of transparency regarding bot accounts and misinformation.
However, Musk has finally closed the $44 billion deal to acquire Twitter. The Tesla CEO has quickly made some sweeping changes in the management team. He recently fired the company’s CEO, CFO, and other top executives. Let’s find out the reason behind these firings.

Elon Musk Fires Twitter CEO And CFO
Musk finally closed the 44 billion deal to acquire Twitter, ending a months-long series of dramatic events. However, things still haven’t stopped being dramatic as the 51-year-old took over the company.
According to The New York Times, Musk has made sweeping changes in the company’s top management. The world’s richest man fired several senior execs, including CEO Parag Agrawal, CFO Ned Segal, Vijaya Gadde, head of legal, policy and trust, and safety, and general counsel Sean Edgett.
The reason for these layoffs is not clear as Musk had earlier said that he does not plan to fire 75% workforce of the company. Musk still hasn’t made any announcement of the deal’s closing.
He had earlier tweeted, “the reason I acquired Twitter is because it is important to the future of civilization to have a common digital town square, where a wide range of beliefs can be debated in a healthy manner, without resorting to violence.”

Musk Changed His Twitter Bio
Right before closing the deal, the SpaceX founder changed his Twitter bio to “Chief Twit“. On Wednesday, he also visited Twitter’s headquarters and walked the halls carrying a sink. It was captioned, “Entering Twitter HQ – let that sink in!”
In the video, the former Paypal owner is seen carrying the sink and saying that he was trying to sink in. Leslie Berland, Twitter’s Chief Marketing Officer, had informed the staff about Musk’s plans to visit the head office.
Chief twit can be attributed to the fact that the closing of the deal would make Musk the owner of the social media giant. It would also end a series of dramatic events that began in April after Musk wanted to buy the company.
Musk had said that he wants to change Twitter and model it on platforms like WeChat and TikTok. Only time will tell how he changes the micro-blogging site for good.
