Earlier this month, Elon Musk accused Twitter of committing fraud, breach of contract, and violation of its security laws in Texas. He had decided to back off from the agreement made in April to buy the company and took to this legal fight. The $44 billion deal with the microblogging company was abandoned as they had withheld necessary information and misled Musk and his team about the true size of the user base.
With the upcoming trial in Delaware on October 17, Musk’s legal team has now taken to subpoena the Twitter whistleblower. This recent action is with the understanding that it would help Musk’s case to abort the deal with the social media company. Here is why the Tesla CEO subpoenaed former Twitter executive Peiter Zatko.

Why Elon Musk Subpeonaed Former Twitter Executive
Twitter’s former security head who was fired earlier this year, Peiter Zatko, also known as “Mudge” by his hacker handle received a subpoena from Musk’s legal team on Saturday. Zatko had earlier complained to U.S. officials of Twitter misleading its regulators about its privacy and security protections and its ability to identify and remove fake accounts. Through the subpoena, Musk would be seeking the documents and communications on the company’s spam and alleged security vulnerabilities. The whistleblower’s complaint can help Musk in his upcoming trial in October. Musk has also subpoenaed his friend and former Twitter CEO, Jack Dorsey.
What Does Twitter Have To Say?
Twitter reacted to Zatko’s allegation with the statement, “What we’ve seen so far is a false narrative about Twitter and our privacy and data security practices that are riddled with inconsistencies and inaccuracies and lacks important context. Mr. Zatko’s allegations and opportunistic timing appear designed to capture attention and inflict harm on Twitter, its customers, and its shareholders. Security and privacy have long been company-wide priorities at Twitter and will continue to be.”
The reason for Zatko’s termination was thrust to his “poor performance and ineffective leadership” by the company. Zatko’s attorneys had dismissed this claim as ‘false’. They added that the former employee had addressed the issue of inadequate information security systems throughout his tenure at the company.
