Elon Musk has been having a hard time managing Twitter since he finalized the deal for the acquisition. He has been making some drastic changes in the company, including firing hundreds of employees and introducing bizarre policies that have backfired.
Recently, the South African billionaire stated that he plans to reduce his time at Twitter to focus on other things. The Tesla CEO also said that he wants to complete an organizational restructuring this week. Let’s find out what Musk said and what are his plans for Twitter.
Elon Musk Plans To Reduce His Twitter Time
Musk has been struggling to manage Twitter lately. He has fired nearly half of the workforce and introduced a verification subscription model that didn’t go well.
On Wednesday, the SpaceX founder was defending himself in a Delaware court against claims that his $56 billion pay package at Tesla Inc was based on easy-to-achieve performance targets.
It was also stated that they were approved by a compliant board of directors. This comes amid Tesla investors going paranoid with the time Musk is devoting to Twitter.
“There’s an initial burst of activity needed post-acquisition to reorganize the company,” Musk said in his testimony. “But then I expect to reduce my time at Twitter.” He also said that some Tesla engineers were assisting in evaluating Twitter’s engineering on a “voluntary basis“.
Musk Fired Employees Critical Of Him
Right after he took over, Musk fired the company’s CEO, CFO, and other top executives. He also laid off nearly half of Twitter’s workforce. However, some of them were asked to return.
Reports suggest that the world’s richest man has been firing people who are critical of him or his policies. A Twitter thread suggested that they were fired overnight via an email.
On November 14, two engineers Rahul Ligma and Daniel Johnson were fired from the social media giant. However, in a turn of events, Musk rehired the two in no time.
Musk tweeted that Ligma and Johnson are back in the company and wrote, “Important to admit when I’m wrong & firing them was truly one of my biggest mistakes.”
