We are perfectly familiar with the rapper Eminem‘s distaste for pop culture. Over the years he has lashed at numerous artists in his rap verse just because they make pop music. Pop Princess Britney Spears has been one of the many singers on that list and has been mercilessly insulted by the rapper. Despite Britney’s respectable nature toward the rapper, she has come under Eminem’s hammer countless times.
Marshall Mathers, popularly known as Eminem, had feuds with many fellow rappers like Machine Gun Kelly and Snoop Dogg. The rapper has refused to go to Grammy Award show reasoning “I’ll probably never get it” in his song ‘Lucky You’ lyrics. But when it comes to pop music the renowned rapper is possessed by an irrational spirit. Eminem in his track ‘Marshall Mathers’ called Britney “garbage“.

Why Eminem Dissed Britney Spears Over The Years
In his hit song ‘The Real Slim Shady‘, Britney Spears was one of the many celebrities who got dirt thrown at them. While rapping about his dislike for the critics of the Grammys who “can’t stomach” him, the ‘Gimme More’ singer got caught in the crossfire. Calling the critics “slim shady” in this verse, he sang, “‘But Slim, what if you win, wouldn’t it be weird?’ Why? So you guys could just lie to get me here? So you can sit me here, next to Britney Spears?”
While Eminem did not directly insult Britney, it was only the start of a years-long tease. In his ‘Marshall Mathers‘ lyrics, the rapper explicitly dissed the ‘Baby One More Time‘ singer. The song went as, “Instincts to kill NSYNC, don’t get me started. These f*ckin’ brats can’t sing and Britney’s garbage.” Britney’s ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake was in the boy band, NSYNC.
In an interview with Vulture in 2017, Eminem revealed why he holds animosity against pop singers. The rapper said that he loses his cool on being called a pop singer. He explained, “What’s bugged out to me is that — I don’t know if everybody understands this — if everybody could do what I did, they’d just do it wouldn’t they? I’m not this manufactured pop thing and I never was. A way people used to dismiss me was to call me pop. I got mad about that, and I lashed out.”

Britney Spears’ True Feelings For Eminem
While the rapper verbally hurt the ‘Criminal’ singer, Britney Spears has always been cordial towards Eminem. The ‘Toxic Pony‘ singer had nothing but nice words to say about Eminem’s performance at the halftime of the Super Bowl. She took to Instagram and wrote, “He was everything to me when I was younger and it was so weird in the first two seconds I saw him on stage last night I felt like I was 17 again !!! It’s honestly kinda scary how certain artists and music can do that … we are so lucky to live in a world where music can give us hope … identity … acceptance …and love.” Her only complaint was, “he should have had way more time”.
This praise came after Eminem, in 2018, criticized Britney for dressing improperly at MTV’s Video Music Awards. The singer wore her famous green blouse and blue shorts with a fake yellow python snake propped across her shoulders. Eminem’s daughter has been a fan of Britney since young. The rapper felt that Britney should consider her younger audience and the influence she has over them, before “dressing trashy at the VMAs.” As per him, she should act like a role model to her millions of young fans.
The rapper explained, “These little girls start looking up to her because she’s like this cute little teeny bopper and then all of sudden… what happened?”
