Completing 11 years of marriage, Prince William and Duchess Kate Middleton are looking forward to their move to Windsor. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge majorly lived at apartment 1A at Kensington Palace in London with their three children—Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
The historic Kensington Palace in London has five reception rooms, three main bedrooms, a night and day nursery, dressing rooms, and staff quarters. However, the family is shifting from Kensington Palace to Windsor Palace.
New Residence Promises The Duke and Duchess Best Of Both Worlds
Queen Elizabeth II shifted her primary residence from Buckingham palace to Windsor Castle during after the novel coronavirus hit the world.
Now, ahead of their move, the royal couple, Prince William and Duchess Kate Middleton expressed their excitement about the new decision. According to a source quoted by Us, the couple described this transition as “the best of both worlds.”
The source further added, “The whole family [is] extremely excited to be moving to Windsor, not just because it will bring them closer to [Queen Elizabeth II] but it’s a perfect happy medium that brings them closer to London than if they chose to settle full time in Berkshire or Amner Hall.”
The residence at Windsor will allow the couple to be closer to their older residence, while also just 20 miles away from Buckingham Palace and Central London. “It’s a beautiful environment that’s steeped in history and such a special location to call home,” the source added.
The Planning For The Move Started In June 2022
In June, Us had confirmed that William and Kate were making preparations to leave Kensington Palace. Since Queen Elizabeth has permanently shifted to Windsor castle, the move to Windsor seemed even more appealing and veritable.
Only recently, during her platinum jubilee, Queen Elizabeth returned to Buckingham Palace to celebrate the festivities of her birthday with her family and friends. The queen felt very nostalgic since the palace brought back many fond and sweet memories.
Prince William and Duchess Kate’s move will therefore not only be closer to the Queen but also to their fellow royals, Prince Edward and the Countess of Wessex, Sophie. Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank would have been closer to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, but they’re currently residing in Portugal to escape the Buckingham Palace drama.
