The past few weeks have been controversial for Twitter and its new owner Elon Musk. The acquisition of the social media platform by the world’s richest man started back in April this year. But the lawsuit filed against the previous owners in connection to the spam and fake account counts led to the delay. And it was earlier this month that the deal was complete.
After taking over the company, the various changes made, left the people shocked. The fear of privatizing a free speech platform led many users to quit in protest. With a dwindling revenue, Elon Musk brought about drastic measures. This included an $8 charge on blue tick and mass lay-off of employees. But does the blue tick fee apply to the Twitter boss?

Will Blue Tick Fee Apply For Elon Musk?
The Tesla CEO on Monday shared a picture on the microblogging site, showing a black t-shirt that included the words “your feedback is appreciated. Now pay $8” and a blue checkmark underneath. The black T-shirt was a reply tweet that Musk sent to Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez when she criticized his plans to charge Twitter users $8 for blue ticks.
This is when one of the verified users asked, “are you going to pay the $8, Elon?” and he replied to the tweet with a hundred sign emoji. This is the first time that Musk is publically admitting that he would also be part of the subscription plan. Though the plan has not been started, it is possible to begin after the midterm elections.

The $8 Subscription Plan On Twitter
After buying Twitter for about $44 billion, a way to recoup the money is the $8 blue tick fee that Elon Musk has introduced earlier last week. The $8 is for the blue verified badge near the username on the Twitter account. Through this subscription, there are so many features that are provided. This includes the ability to post longer videos, see fewer ads, and gain priority status. Many celebrities, lawmakers, and major media organizations have all shown disapproval of this latest development. But there is no way that the SpaceX CEO is backing off. “Trash me all day, but it’ll cost $8,” he tweeted in reply to all the criticism and hatred he received.
