Elon Musk doesn’t think the remote work culture is good for productivity. The Tesla CEO didn’t mince his words about employees working from the comfort of their homes, calling them out for “living in la-la land.” He also thinks it sends the wrong message to the on-site workers.
The Tesla CEO finds it off-putting and not something he wants to become a firm working arrangement. As a strong proponent of return-to-office policies, Musk told his employees to spend at least 40 working hours in the office. He also addressed Tesla’s shareholders’ meeting, providing updates and inspiration about the company’s future.

For the employees who’ve gotten used to working from home in their sweatpants, Elon Musk has some strong criticism. The Tesla CEO believes these employees are low on productivity, making no headway in their work. According to Musk, it’s also a moral disservice to the factory workers and employees without that option.
Elon Musk said in a CNBC interview, ” People building the cars, servicing the cars, building houses, fixing houses, making the food, making all the things that people consume. It’s messed up to assume that, yes, they have to go to work, but you don’t. It’s not just a productivity thing, I think it’s morally wrong.”

Elon Musk To Remain First In Command At Tesla
Despite the increasing pressure, Elon Musk is not being pushed out of the leadership role at Tesla. He addressed this at the annual shareholder’s meeting, hinting at using advertisements in the company’s future. In the past, Tesla CEO has been notorious for not inviting advertising to his shores. Thanks to his ownership of Twitter, he had all the free advertising in the world. But a change is underway.
Elon Musk also updated the shareholders on the “Full Self-Driving” software, saying it is near completion and perfection. He has been claiming the system works for years but has often had to recall the software due to its disregard for safety regulations. With the complaints received, the cars will be fixed through an online software update. Lastly, he talked about the affordability of their vehicles, assuring his gathered audience that Tesla will pull through despite the “global economic environment.”
