    Tech billionaire Elon Musk met with French President Emmanuel Macron on Monday, May 15, to discuss future business ties between the two parties. The two previously met during Macron’s New Orleans tour last year. To attract more capital, Macron convinces the Tesla CEO about France’s readiness to be the next hub for Tesla production.

    Elon Musk and Emmanuel Macron had a one-on-one discussion at the Elysée Palace before heading to the ‘Choose France‘ summit. French Finance Minister Bruno Le Mairen provided no details of the exchange except the intentions of both parties being the discussion of the “attractiveness of France” for future growth.

    French President Emmanuel Macron met with the tech billionaire Elon Musk to discuss the possibilities of investment opportunities. Macron sat with Musk at Elysée Palace, Versailles, before heading to the ‘Choose France’ summit. Former Twitter CEO, disheveled and dressed in a formal suit for a meeting, joked with the President about having “slept in a car” as they smiled for cameras. 

    Emmanuel Macron has lately lost popularity as the elected leader in France since announcing his plans to raise the retirement age in his country. With these investors’ meetings, he’s hoping to win back the support of the people. In his tweet, he explained the topics of conversation “With @ElonMusk, we talked about the attractiveness of France and the significant progress in the electric vehicle and energy sectors. We also talked about digital regulation. We have so much to do together. See you this afternoon at the #ChooseFrance Summit!”

    Elon Musk could be looking to make his next base of operations in France. The meeting with the French President seemed to have gone well, with Musk telling the media about his commitment to making future investments. However, Musk didn’t provide the media with a well-detailed plan of action, choosing only to speak in broad strokes.

    Elon Musk told the press, “I think at some point, but not today, at some point, yes. There is no announcement today but I am very impressed with president Macron and the French government and how welcoming they are to industry, so I am confident that in the future Tesla will be making significant investments in France.”
