While talking to ComicBook.com, Ross Marquand talked about the scene where Rogue throws Captain America’s Shield. He claimed that this scene could sew the seed for the Avengers vs. X-Men storyline.

Marquand said, “You saw what happened in the last episode, Rogue and Captain America, There’s a real chance that that could happen. He can’t fly. Captain can’t fly. She threw that to the side of a snowy mountain. I’m sure it’s lodged in there 50 feet deep. He ain’t gonna find that shield. It’s not like Mjolnir where you can just like pull it back, it’s stuck in that thing. He’s gonna be pissed at Rogue for a while.”

The Avengers vs. X-Men is a quite popular storyline as it involves two of the most popular Marvel factions going against each other. It is a rather new storyline which was released in 2012.

It all starts when the Avengers learn that the Phoenix Force, a cosmic entity, is heading to Earth. Avengers believed that Phoenix Force was coming after the Hope Summers. Captain America goes to Cyclops and asks him to hand over Hope Summers to them.

Cyclops turns him down saying Hope Summers is the key for the future of Mutants. Thus, a war breaks out. It was a rumble with the Avengers losing to Cyclops-led mutants.

Hope Summers learns about the Phoenix Force and decides to let it possess her. But, she knows it could corrupt her so she tells Wolverine to kill her if she loses control. For this, both Wolverine and Hope Summer reach to the Moon.

Later, the Avengers and Mutants also reach there and start fighting against each other. After Pheonix Force reaches near to them, Iron Man blasts it in the hope of killing it. However, instead of getting destroyed, it splits into 5 fragments and possesses Cyclops, Namor, Colossus, Magik and Emma Frost.

These 5 form a new team called “Pheonix Five” and start helping humanity and mutants on Earth. They quickly become the favorite of the people, however, the Avengers and some X-men knew sooner than later, they would be corrupted and become evil, and that happens.

Now mutants and Avengers team up to fight Phoenix Five and manage to take down Namor, Colossus, and Magik. Professor X tries to take out Cyclops and comes very close to it, however, Cyclops turns on Emma Frost and takes her part of the Pheonix Force.

After this, Scarlet Witch joins the fray to help everyone stop Cyclops. Since Hex Magic is stronger than Pheonix Force, they take down Cyclops and destroy Pheonix Force into particles. This eventually helps to increase the number of mutants in the world.

This storyline is yet to be explored in both animated and live-action media. Fans now have to wait if it actually happens.
