Zachary (Zac) David Alexander Efron was born in a well-to-do family from working-class America. He was born in San Luis Obispo, California on October 18, 1987. Zac Efron ventured into the film business very early in his life. His father, an engineer, encouraged him to pursue acting. During his school time, he appeared in the theatre productions of ‘Peter Pan,’ and ‘Gypsy,’ his first musical where he donned 90 appearances.

Doing stage work and participating in musicals destined him in the corridors of Hollywood, where at the age of 15, he starred in television series like ‘Firefly,’ and ‘Emergency Room.’ However, America and the world took notice of this young kid when he was paired with Vanessa Hudgens in the teen drama ‘High School Musical’ in 2006.

Disney came to the actor with the trilogy, which escalated the fervor of the teen dramas in the U.S. the ‘High School Musical’ including Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, Corbin Bleu, and Lucas Gabriel. It got two sequels to the film, but the third sequel was made to release in cinemas, which helped Disney gain $252.9 million worldwide. He earned allegedly $8.5 million annually while basking in the success. In 2007, he also appeared in ‘Hairspray,’ which became a commercially viable film. After a few years in the business, he started losing his mojo, and he could not deliver commercially successful cinema.

He did a critically acclaimed film ‘Paperboy,’ where he played the role of Jack Jansen, brother of a reporter who has come back to his hometown for a racial murder investigation. The film did rounds at Cannes but did not prove a money spinner. Zac turned a voice-over artist for an animated film, ‘The Lorax,’ which earned more than $65 million dollars on its opening day. The early success and the pressure of fame pushed him into alcohol and drug abuse. For the addiction, he resorted to a rehab facility. After rehab, he ventured into the comedy genre with Michael Jordan-starrer ‘That Awkward Moment,‘ which earned $40.5 million at the BO. He then continued to star in comedy films like the Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson-starrer ‘Baywatch.’
