“We’re In A Wild World, Mate!”: Hollywood Reacts To Joe Biden’s Decision Of Stepping Out Of Presidential Race

The Presidential elections drama took a rather expected turn after Joe Biden bowed out of the race on Sunday while endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris as the next presidential candidate for the Democratic Party. While many may have seen the decision coming because of the immense internal pressure in the party, many others are still shocked by the decision.

Joe Biden’s old age and his frequent blunders while speaking publicly had led to widespread demands from citizens as well as influential people asking for his removal as a candidate. As Kamala Harris took charge, she promised to unite the Democratic Party and beat the rival leader Donald Trump, who she said has propagated extreme agendas. As the race got interesting with this twist, here’s how various celebrities reacted.

Hollywood was quick and rather passionate while reacting to President Joe Biden’s announcement of exiting his bid for reelection and endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris.

Barbra Streisand, who has been one of the most open Democratic supporters in the acting industry, took to X on Sunday to express gratitude. “We should be grateful for his upholding of our democracy,” she wrote, before mentioning that, “Joe Biden will go down in history as a man who accomplished significant achievements in his 4-year term.”

Cher also chimed in with a reaction as he confessed on X that she was “tortured” over the news. She asserted that she doubts the Democrats’ chances without Biden and suggested that it’s time to think “way outside the box” with a possible split ticket.

Sheryl Lee Ralph, on the other hand, seemed supportive of the decision as she shared a photo with Kamala Harris, captioned: “President Biden has endorsed Kamala Harris!”

Rob Reiner lauded Biden’s character and service in an X post, while also taking a dig at Donald Trump: “Joe Biden is a man of the highest character. He has tirelessly and effectively served us for over 50 years. He has shown what real leadership is all about,” he wrote.

Mark Hamill also joined in with hail for Biden’s achievements as he aslo urged people to support the next Democratic nominee: “JoeBiden has a record of accomplishments unmatched by any president in our lifetime,” he wrote.

George Takei also honored Biden’s service and called for unity behind Harris: “He has served our nation admirably for decades. Now let us unite behind @KamalaHarris and defeat Donald Trump in November!”

Meanwhile, Russell Brand commented on the situation with a satirical flair: “Joe Biden has endorsed Kamala Harris for the Democratic nomination after ending re-election bid. We’re in a wild world, mate,” he wrote in the tweet.

Hollywood Has Been Involved With Politics Even Before Joe Biden Bowed Out Of The Race

Even before his decision to opt out of the race, the acting industry has been quite involved in national politics ahead of the presidential elections. George Clooney had written a New York Times op-ed urging Biden to step aside. Clooney argued that choosing a new nominee would be “messy” but it would definitely energize voters in the party’s favor.

Just days before that, Clooney made it to the headlines for a record-breaking fundraiser for Biden’s reelection campaign in Los Angeles. The event was star-studded with many including Julia Roberts, Jimmy Kimmel, former President Barack Obama, Jack Black, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Kathryn Hahn, and Jason Bateman marking their attendance.

Apart from supporting Joe Biden, many celebrities including Jimmy Kimmel and Robert De Niro have actively trashed Donald Trump, the Republican candidate, as the wrong person to run the country. Now with Biden bowing out, many celebrities paid tribute to his presidency, while others speculated about the future.
