Ridley also expressed her confidence in the new film’s potential. In an interview with Premiere, she revealed that she was initially presented with the concept for the movie before a script was even written. Despite this unconventional approach, Ridley felt so drawn to the story’s potential that she readily agreed to return.

They simply asked if I wanted to do it, based on an idea, without the script being written yet,” she said. “But if I hadn’t been convinced by the concept, the movie wouldn’t have been made. I took a day to think about it and I told myself that I had had great times making those films. This new adventure seemed fun to me, so why say no?”

She further explained that she wouldn’t have come back if the story wasn’t worth returning for. Moreover, this enthusiasm from Ridley is a positive sign for fans who were disappointed by the divisive sequel trilogy.

The Film Might Not Release Until 2027

The excitement surrounding Daisy Ridley’s return as Rey Skywalker in a new ‘Star Wars‘ film was tempered by reports of production delays. According to insider Daniel Richtman, the untitled project is currently on hold. This is because Lucasfilm is working on refining the script and ensuring that it meets their high standards.

Moreover, the reports suggest that the Rey film may not arrive in theaters until 2027 at the earliest. Despite these setbacks, Daisy Ridley remains enthusiastic about her return to the Star Wars universe. In an earlier interview, she explained her decision to reprise the role.

There’s just a lot of joy with me and these films. Honestly, if I wasn’t excited, I wouldn’t have done it. It feels like a great thing to be a part of,” she stated. Ridley emphasized that she only agreed to return if she believed the story was worth telling. Moreover, her positive outlook suggests that she is confident in the project’s potential.
