The debate of AI taking over the world and humanity ending has been ongoing and it does not seem to end. However, recently at a Geneva conference where humanoids answer questions from humans, something interesting happened.
One of the artificial intelligence robots, Ameca, rolled her eyes when asked about robots taking over the world. Let’s take a look at what happened at the Geneva Conference between robots and journalists.
AI Robot Gives Journalist A Stinky Side-Eye
World’s first human-robot press conference took place in Geneva recently. And at this conference were present nine humanoid bots with their creators. Journalists asked them various questions. However, one reaction has stood out.
One of the humanoid bots, Ameca is known for her facial expressions. Ameca said, “Robots like me can be used to help improve our lives and make the world a better place. I believe it’s only a matter of time before we see thousands of robots just like me out there making a difference.”
A journalist then asked her whether they intended to rebel against their creators in the future. And Ameca gave a side-eye to the reporter before answering. “I’m not sure why you would think that,” Ameca said, adding, “My creator has been nothing but kind to me and I am very happy with my current situation.”

AI Robot Reassures She Will Not Take Up Jobs
One of the AI robots, Grace, who was a medical robot dressed in a nurse’s uniform reassured everyone that human jobs will not be lost. It has become a huge concern for many that they will lose their jobs to AI in the future.
A reporter asked her whether her existence might destroy thousands of human jobs. Grace replied, “I will be working alongside humans to provide assistance and support and will not be replacing any existing jobs.”
Her creator, Ben Goertzel, asked, “You sure about that, Grace?” And Grace insisted that she was sure about it as the room filled with laughter.
Twitter Is Exploding With Reactions
After a video of the press conference was uploaded online, netizens have taken to Twitter to post their reactions. And most of them are worried about a robotic apocalypse. Many netizens commented that AI should be kept in check.
Others commented that it was scary and that it did not feel right. One user wrote, “this is how every robot takeover movie starts”. While another person suggested pouring water over it before it was too late.
