The new CEO Twitter Elon Musk has time and again reminded of the neutral stance regarding American politics. But, he has been not too-subtle lately since his $44 billion Twitter deal was in progress. The Tesla owner has been a thorough critique of Joe Biden and his economic policies during the inflation period. He also sided with the Republicans making it clear on Twitter. Now, he is not on board with the new $1.7 trillion Omnibus spending bill that the Congressional leaders introduced.
In an attempt to avoid the partial shutdown of the government, the government unveiled this mammoth spending bill to aid the foreign allies, health packages, retirement plans, to help the fish industry, military and arsenal budget. Before December 21st, they had to release the spending plan. The 4,000 pages bill has drawn the financial plan till September 2023, and also brushes upon mending certain provisions in the constitution. But, the Twitter CEO is not satisfied with such a magnanimous affair.

Elon Musk Conducts A Poll On Whether The Congress Should Approve The Bill Or Not
Polls are not new during the new regime on Twitter. Elon Musk has changed policies and restored people on the micro-blogging site via the polls. These polls replaced the potential content moderation council, who would have been responsible for restoring and banning accounts. The billionaire restored the former President Donald Trump’s Twitter account after conducting a public poll.
Recently, Twitter changed policy regarding content from other social media platforms. The platform will disband any account that primarily promotes other contemporary platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Truth, and others. After the havoc and confusion it created, Musk conducted a poll asking users whether he should sign off from his designation as the CEO. Majority agreed with the decision.
Now, he has conducted yet another poll about the new $1.7 trillion spending bill that Congress introduced. The bill extends aid to the Ukrainian efforts who are at war with Russia, revamping the ancient Electoral Count Act, and boosting the lobster industry. Many compatriots have expressed dissatisfaction over this hasty formation to avoid the collapse. Elon Musk is one of the dissenting voices among many people. He asked Twitteratis ‘Should Congress approve the $1.7 trillion omnibus spending bill?’ 74.1% of people did not approve of the new bill while 25.9% welcomed the new bill.

The CEO Thinks The Bill Is Not In The Best Interest Of People
The new bill has included many things, but has snubbed some. The key takeaways are the $27.9 billion emergency aid package to the Ukraine war efforts which includes $11.8 billion for the arsenal restocking, $9 billion for training of the army, and more. The large chunk of spending will be focused on military spending. In total $858 billion from the $1.7 trillion will go to the armed forces.
One of the important provisions to be repaired via the bill is the ‘Electoral Count Act’ of 1887, which made the Vice President’s role ceremonial in counting the electoral votes. It also prohibits rejecting the States’ vote counts. The Vice President (President of the Congress) clause caused mayhem during January 2021, wherein Donald Trump forced Mike Pence to not accept the electoral votes due to President Biden heading the race. The bill has increased its wealth allocation to the medicine industry and research for the ongoing pandemic threat.
This colossal bill is not sitting well with Elon Musk, who believes in “small spending” in the long run. He has sold more than a billion of his Tesla stock to buy Twitter and recover the financial losses that the platform faced. He wrote, “I’m in favor of a small spending bill to keep things running, but common sense suggests that it be the least amount required through the holidays. Railroading through a giant spending bill that almost no one has read is unlikely to be in the best interests of the people”.
