“History Will Judge This Statement”: Kate Middleton Behind “Recollections May Vary” Statement About Prince Harry And Meghan Markle’s Racism Accusations

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have created a rift in the relationship between them and the royal family. It all started with Oprah Winfrey in 2021, when the couple chronicled their struggles. One of the accusations from the couple was that the family was concerned about Archie’s skin color. The royal family did release a statement to clear the air.

Buckingham Palace’s statement called the racism accusation “concerning.” The family also mentioned that the recollections of such incidents “may vary.” Valentine Low’s new book has revealed that Kate Middleton was the one to suggest the tweak in the otherwise mild-worded statement.

During the Oprah Winfrey interview, Meghan Markle accused the royal family institution of silencing her. But she accused a member of the royal family of expressing concern over Archie’s skin color. Winfrey speculated that it must have been either Queen Elizabeth II or Prince Philip.

One of the parts of the official statement of the Palace stated, “The issues raised, particularly that of race, are concerning. While some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately.”

Now, Valentine Low’s source for her new book, ‘Courtiers: The Hidden Power Behind The Crown,’ has alleged that Kate Middleton was behind formulating the statement. The source said, “The debate was, do you rise entirely above it and offer the olive branch of [Harry and Meghan being] ‘much-loved members of the family’? Or is there some moment when you have to intervene and offer a view?”

Kate and Prince William wanted the statement to be “toughened up.” They continued, “They were both of one mind that we needed something that said that the institution did not accept a lot of what had been said.”

Kate Middleton has always treaded the royal path very carefully. And she did the same with the statement after the explosive interview. Another source praised Kate’s commitment to her duties and her determination to become Queen one day.

The source said, “It was Kate who clearly made the point, ‘History will judge this statement, and unless this phrase or a phrase like it is included, everything that they have said will be taken as true.’ “

Praising the princess of Wales, the source added, “She does not get as much credit as she should because she is so subtle about it. She is playing the long game. She has always got her eye on, ‘This is my life and my historic path, and I am going to be Queen one day.’ “
