Former Royal Meghan Markle has more royalty in her blood than she would have led herself to believe. The ‘Archetypes‘ podcaster may have left the British behind but is said to have a history of shared ancestry with a long succession of U.S. presidents.
Like her sister-in-law, Kate Middleton, and late mother-in-law, Princess Diana, former ‘Suits‘ actor Meghan Markle can claim her royalty because of her link with several U.S presidents. The academic scholars and fellow researchers at New England Historic Genealogical Society hold the scientific proof to her claim.

How Are Meghan Markle And U.S. Presidents Linked?
Meghan Markle has a remarkable family tree. It goes back to the times of eight former American presidents and three first ladies. Her father is Thomas Markle, whose great-grandparents are Ellsworth and Merrill from New Hampshire. Through her father’s association, she, too, is their relative in an exciting fate of complete polarity, with formerly enslaved people on her mother Doria Ragland’s side of the family. She has talked about her great-great-great grandfather choosing a surname after slavery was abolished in 1865.
Markle wrote in an essay about her mixed-race heritage in 2015, opining,” Perhaps the closest thing to connecting me to my ever-complex family tree, my longing to know where I come from, and the commonality that links me to my bloodline, is the choice that my great-great-great grandfather made to start anew. He chose the last name Wisdom. He drew his own box.”
The now outcast Duchess’ roster of cousins is a line of former leaders of the free world, including George W. Bush, George H.W. Bush, Gerald Ford, Richard Nixon, Herbert Hoover, Calvin Coolidge, Chester Alan Arthur, and James A. Garfield.

Does Meghan Markle Have More Royal Ancestors?
Thanks to deep family ties, Meghan Markle has a few more royal ancestors on his father’s side. Gary Boyd Roberts, the author of ‘Ancestors of American Presidents,’ notes in his research that the former Suits star is also in distant relation to former American first ladies Mamie Eisenhower, Ellen Wilson, and Frances Cleveland.
Genealogist Gary Boyd Roberts has claimed that she is a direct descendant of England’s King Edward III. Technically, that makes her and Prince Harry 17th cousins. It is, indeed, a small world.
