Is Prince Harry Being Forced To Attend King Charles’ Coronation?

King Charles will officially become the king of the United Kingdom at the coronation ceremony which is scheduled to take place on May 6. The ceremony will be attended by several high-profile celebrities. Prince Harry will also make an appearance at the event without Meghan Markle.

The decision of Harry to go solo without Markle and their kids has sparked speculations. This comes right after the release of their multiple interviews, a Netflix docu-series, and a tell-all memoir. There have been reports that the Duke of Sussex might be forced to attend the ceremony.

Prince Harry realizes that the coronation ceremony is probably the most important day in his father King Charles’ life. In his memoir and in subsequent interviews, the Duke of Sussex has said that he loves his family and he “wants them back.”

Skipping the ceremony would have further damaged his relationship with the British Royal family. Earlier, Marca had reported that Harry “isn’t going to come if he feels the atmosphere will be as toxic as it was during the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee and funeral.”

Recently, the couple was evicted from the Frogmore Cottage by King Charles. The cottage served as the residence of the two for their UK visits. This came after the things Harry wrote in his memoir, ‘Spare.’

So no one is forcing him, but Harry is in a way obligated to attend the event if he wants to improve his relationship with his family members.

Recently, Buckingham Palace released a statement to announce that only Harry will be attending the ceremony. “Buckingham Palace is pleased to confirm that the Duke of Sussex will attend the Coronation Service at Westminster Abbey on 6 May,” the statement read.

They further added, “The Duchess of Sussex will remain in California with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.” Another report indicates that Markle might be uncomfortable meeting the Royals after all the things they said.

If they went to the UK as a couple, chances are high that they will be receiving cold shoulders from the royals; just like what happened to them during Queen Elizabeth’s funeral last year.
