After the move to the US, the two struck several deals with media giants like Netflix and Spotify. However, after their personal lives started dwindling, the couple’s finances also hit them. Spotify has severed ties with them, and the buzz is that Netflix may also cut ties with them. Amidst that, Harry and Meghan are looking to rebrand by adopting Princess Diana’s surname.
Meghan Markle’s Real Object In Life Was To Be Princess Diana
Prince Harry has always drawn parallels between his mother, Princess Diana, and his wife, Meghan Markle. During the recent Netflix docuseries ‘Harry & Meghan,’ Prince Harry said that both Meghan and Diana had the same reaction to the constant media attention and attack. Princess Diana has always been present in the narrative that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have propelled about their struggle.
Now, a royal author, Tom Bower, claims that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may drop the Mountbatten-Windsor surname. During an interview with GB News, Bower said, “What’s really interesting in the rebranding of the Sussexes is that Meghan decided her real object in life was to be Diana. That has always been her passion.”
Tom continued, “That has also been Harry’s passion, and Meghan went to the extent of suggesting that they should drop the name Windsor and take the surname Spencer. So she’d be Meghan Spencer—the new Diana.”

The Couple May Also Drop Their Royal Titles
The late Queen Elizabeth II gave the royal titles, Duke and Duchess of Sussex, to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in 2018. The couple continues to use the title to date, despite the Sandringham Summit. Recently, their two kids—Archie and Lilibet—got their royal titles added. But Harry and Meghan are planning to drop these titles as they will become the “new reincarnation of Diana.”
Tom said, “He’d take his mother’s name too. It’s all about the break-off. They’d also give up the Sussex title because instead you’ve got the new incarnation of Diana.”
Bower claims that the couple has discussed the name change with others too. He continued, “They’ve discussed it not only by themselves but with others too. This isn’t something they’ve plucked out of their minds. They were actively trying to recast themselves as Harry and Meghan Spencer.”
