Prince William and Kate Middleton avoided answering the questions they were asked about the recent controversy surrounding Omid Scobie’s controversial book, ‘Endgame‘. The couple maintained composure as they walked the red carpet at the Royal Variety Performance on Thursday.
The Dutch version of the book got mired into controversy and was temporarily removed from shelves after reports emerged, claiming that it had names of members of the royal family who made racially sensitive remarks about Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s child.

Prince William, Princess Kate Walk Away As Media Swarms Them With Questions
During the event on Thursday, the couple was shot at with several questions by the media. “Your Royal Highness, have you got a comment about Omid Scobie’s book?” a reporter asked. “Did you watch the Piers Morgan show last night, Your Royal Highnesses?” another one questioned.
Prince William and Princess Kate, however, refused to acknowledge the questions as they walked ahead on the red carpet hand in hand.
The controversy has drawn flak from across the world for King Charles and Princess Catherine, the two members who allegedly commented on the skin color of Prince Archie. The Buckingham Palace also has not given out any official statement regarding the controversy.

Book Author Scobie Says It Was A “Translation Error”
The writer of the book, Omid Scobie, is the only person involved, who has come out with a statement.
“Having only written and edited the English version of Endgame, I can only comment on that manuscript — which does not name the two individuals who took part in the conversation. I’m happy to hear that the error in the translation of the Dutch edition is being fixed,” he told People, a day after the controversy gained traction.
The Dutch publishers had also given the same reason — “translation error” — for taking the books off the shelves. However, many have contended that there indeed was no translation error and the removal was a mere move for damage control before the situation escalated.
The Dutch publishers, meanwhile, said, “The rectified edition of Eindstrijd by Omid Scobie will be in bookstores on Friday 8 December. Xander Uitgevers temporarily removed the book from sale, due to an error that occurred in the Dutch edition.”
The controversy stems from a 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey wherein Meghan Markle hinted that her son Archie’s skin color may be an issue with the Royal Family.
Prince William and Kate, along with Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel of Sweden, attended the Royal Variety Performance on Thursday despite the ongoing controversy, as it is a tradition of the royal family.
