Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s relationship was not well received. They always doubted that Markle would be able to fit in with the family. But in 2018, Harry and Meghan got married together at Windsor Castle. Despite everyone’s criticism, people thought Prince William and Kate Middleton would be welcoming the Duchess of Sussex.
In 2018, media reports suggested that Prince William had apprehensions about the suitability of the royal couple. Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle also did not have a good start. In their Netflix docuseries, ‘Harry & Meghan,’ Markle talked about her first meeting with the Prince and Princess of Wales, which was awkward. But the most publicized story about their friction was about bridesmaid dresses at Meghan Markle’s wedding. However, the latter extended an olive branch to express gratitude to the former.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding was already controversial, but the tension quadrupled behind the scenes. Princess Charlotte‘s dress was not the right fit, so Kate allegedly asked for it to be redone. As per Prince Harry’s memoir, ‘Spare,’ Kate and Meghan were on a text chain.
During the texting, Kate disregarded all the drama that was happening between Meghan Markle and her father. She was persistent that the dresses should be remade.
During the Oprah interview in 2021, Meghan Markle cleared the air about the whole drama. She said, “It was a really hard week of the wedding, and she was upset about something, but she owned it and she apologized, and she brought me flowers and a note apologizing. She did what I would do if I knew that I’d hurt someone, right, to just take accountability for it.”
However, the royal biographer, Andrew Morton, says that Meghan Markle also extended a sweet gesture to express her gratitude. He said, “With the spat concerning the bridesmaids’ outfits now behind them, Meghan has since given Kate and her six closest friends gold bracelets designed by Californian jeweler Lisette Polny as a thank-you for their help and support.”
He continued, “It was an elegant peace offering; both women were professional enough to know that there was no gain in showing dissent or disdain.”

The Royal Tailor Reacted To The Whole Drama
During an interview with the Daily Mail, Ajay Mirpuri, the royal tailor, talked about the whole drama. He said, “If anything happened in the background, it didn’t happen in front of me. But yes, weddings are stressful at the best of times—and especially one at this high level; you’ve got to respect that.”
Ajay continued, “They were faced with a problem like anyone gets at a wedding, with last-minute hitches. I can understand why anybody would be upset if the dresses weren’t fitting—it’s nerve-wracking.”
Mirpuri confesses that he understands Kate and other mothers’ concerns about not letting their children go in ill-fitting dresses. He added, “I feel for them all because you wouldn’t want the children to go out on a big stage in an ill-fitting dress—and that’s what they were. All six bridesmaids’ dresses had to be fixed, and we did it.”
