Prince Harry and Meghan Markle shook the Royal Family when the two decided to step back from royal duties. The couple took it to Instagram to announce their exit to work to “become financially independent”. Harry and Markle decided to move to North America and balance their lives in the UK and the US. But, the late Queen Elizabeth II wanted some members together of the Royal Family before their departure.
The congregation consisted of Prince William, Prince Harry, King Charles, and the late Queen. Her Majesty wanted the conversation to take place away from the bustling Buckingham or Windsor. So, she decided to have the talk behind the closed doors at the Sandringham, Norfolk. So, during early January 2020, King Charles with his two sons and Queen Elizabeth II came together. Meghan Markle was supposed to be present, but she was in Canada. So, what unfolded during this summit?

What Happened At ‘The Sandringham Summit’?
On 13th January 2020, Prince Harry met at Norfolk to decide the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s future. The two wanted an out from the royal life due to constant pressure from media and ill treatment towards Meghan Markle. The actress did not attend the discussion and as per the Palace’s statement the couple decided that she should not necessarily be there. During the meeting, the members decided the course of action for the two and what will be the privileges and immunities that the two could still utilize.
The couple has also released a two part docu series chronicling their lives and an intimate look at what spiraled behind the scenes. In ‘Harry & Meghan’, the couple talked about this summit. Harry recalled that they were presented with options for either “all in, no change” to “all out”. They wanted a middle ground, but they rejected their option. In 2020, his late grandmother released a statement stating that they will remain working members of the Royal Family while living their independent lives. The two were not anymore privy to the public funds.

Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Disclosed About The Summit In The Docuseries?
However, the meeting was not as smooth as it appeared. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry made shocking revelations regarding the meeting. The couple had their consent for Meghan’s absence, but Harry made it seem that they held the meeting till Meghan went to Canada.
He said, “It was only once Meg had left and gone back to Canada that it was then arranged that there was going to be a meeting at Sandringham on the following Monday[January 13th, 2020]”.
Meghan said, “Imagine a conversation, a roundtable discussion about the future of your life. When the stakes are this high. And you as the mom and the wife and the target, in many regards, aren’t invited to have a seat at the table”.
Prince Harry recounted an incident during the meeting. He said, “It became very clear very quickly that that goal was not up for discussion or debate. It was terrifying to have my brother scream and shout at me, and my father say things that simply weren’t true and my grandmother quietly sit there and sort of take it all in”.
