‘Thor: Love And Thunder’ directed by Taika Waititi, is a few weeks away from release. However, the conversation about Thor 5 has already begun. The fourth installment itself is a battle won for Taika as Marvel was not ready for a new solo Thor movie.
‘Thor: Ragnarok’ made Taika Waititi a household name. He revamped the entire franchise with light-hearted humor and his signature auteur style. Nevertheless, the future of the franchise depends upon the upcoming fourth installment. However, it is a question of whether Taika Waititi will take over the director’s chair or not. The director himself has given an update about the future of the franchise.

“I’m Never Doing That Again”: Taika Waititi On The Potential Trilogy Of The Thor Franchise
Taika Waititi took over the Thor franchise with ‘Thor: Ragnarok.’ His style made the conventional Marvel movie into something interesting that the fans welcomed. In an early interview, he was asked about the future of the Thor franchise post the fourth installment.
He said, “Who knows if we do another one after this, but I definitely feel like we put everything–every idea and every single ridiculous concept or gag or stunt or character –into this film. I couldn’t be happier with it.”
It seems that the new film has got all the elements, madness, and maybe the end to the standalone Thor franchise. In a new interview, Taika seems not to be interested in having something like the ‘Spider-Man’ trilogy.
When asked about the potential for a fifth installment, he said, “I haven’t thought about it as part of a new trilogy, because every time I make a film, I think, ‘I’m never doing that again…’ because they’re just too hard.”
He continued, “There’s any film and I’ve done it eight times now. Eight times I’ve said, ‘I think I’m just going to pack it in. I had a good run.’ And then sure enough get lured back in with a Yankee dollar. Lured back in by them cookies… and them Oscars.”
His disinterest may hamper the quality of the fifth installment if it happens. If any other director takes over the franchise, it may backfire and the Studios would not want that. Currently, after Pixar’s ‘Lightyear,’ and ‘Thor: Love And Thunder,’ Taika is set to make his feature debut in the ‘Star Wars’ franchise.

I kinda like the idea that every two movies for Thor has a new director but I wouldn’t be mad if he stayed
