10 Times ‘Family Guy’ Lead Peter Griffin Was A Horrible Father

Peter Griffin has been making his family “laugh and cry” for twenty-two seasons of ‘Family Guy’. Griffin hilariously messes up things for his family and friends. Eventually, the stereotypical white-culture man warms his way into his family’s heart as he makes up for his mistakes. Nonetheless, Peter Giffin has not always been the best father to his children. Amid his knack for screwing up, Chris, Meg, and Stewie Griffin get hurt in the crossfire.

While the slapstick comedy ‘Family Guy’ is excellent, parents should not take notes from it. Peter has often claimed to have no interest in his children’s lives and abuses them. He is the foremost bully of his daughter, Meg. Meanwhile, he has the least shared screen with Stewie. Here are ten times Peter Griffin has been a terrible father to his children.

10. Peter Griffin Assaulted His Children Often

The farce comedy of ‘Family Guy’ is one of its many attractions. However, it is not hilarious when Peter physically abuses his children, even out of fun and pranks. He punched Chris to find Quohog’s hidden treasure in season twelve. Meg has been under constant fire at the hands of her father. Peter has even whipped his one-year-old, Stewie in season twelve. Although Peter often realizes his mistakes, assaulting children is the definition of worst parenting.

9. Peter Told His Children He Hates Them

Every parent has moments in their life when they are not particularly fond of their children. It could be incessant crying or an over-their-head arguing teenager. No-one would admit to their children that they hate them, for obvious reasons. However, Peter outright tells Chris, Meg, and Stewie that he hates them. In the season eight episode titled ‘April In Quohog’, Peter broke the hearts of his children. Although he soon realized his mistake, it was irresponsible of him to say it in the first place.

8. Peter Treated Meg Horribly When She Had The Mumps

Meg’s biggest bullies have not been her peers or even her mother; but Peter. She has suffered most at the hands of Peter. Although she is not Peter’s real daughter, he has always treated Meg terribly. In season eleven, ‘Not All Dogs Go To Heaven’, Meg was diagnosed with the mumps when Peter forced her to stand with an infected man. Later, Peter mostly neglected Meg and threw food at her.

7. Peter Forced Meg To Make A Sandwich When The House Was Broken Into

Peter pulled another one of his classics of Meg when burglars broke into Griffin’s house in season four’s episode titled ‘Untitled Griffin Family History’. Peter always considers Meg as dispensable. He sends her out to make a sandwich while their house is being robbed. Moreover, he sends Meg through the air vents so she doesn’t give away the position of the panic room. When Meg gets captured by the robbers, Peter ignores her and starts to tell the family stories.

6. Peter Turned His Family Into Drug Mafia

Peter Griffin peaked at his screw-ups in the season eleven episode titled ‘Farmer Guy’. When Louis voiced her concerns about Quohog no longer being a safe neighborhood, Peter rooted his entire family in a rural scene. The family finds a meth cook’s notebook in their new house’s basement. Acting on his impulses, again, Peter put his family to cooking and selling drugs.

In season twelve episode seven titled ‘In Harmony’s Way’, Peter and Quagmire team up to form a band duo. The men sing about their crude day-to-day life experiences. In one of those songs, Peter reveals that he once left Stewie, his one-year-old son with strangers to use the bathroom. He left his family multiple times in danger to use the bathroom. Further highlighting his bad parenting, Peter also leaves his family during the holiday to go on a tour.

4. Peter Covering Up Stewie’s Injury

Peter’s approach to problems is always problematic and hilarious but it is irresponsible when he tries to cover up Stewie’s injury. In the season eight episode titled ‘Brian Griffin’s House of Payne’, Chris and Meg knock Stewie down the stairs while fighting. The fall injured Stewie and he remained unconscious for days. But when Peter found out, he helped Chris and Meg to cover up the injury. Peter confessed that he had done the same with Chris and Meg before.

3. Peter Wanted To Continue His Road Trip In A ‘Home Alone’ Situation

‘Home Alone’ is a family favorite where the youngest child is accidentally left behind and his family tries to rush back to him. However, when a similar situation came upon the Griffin family in season seven, Peter did not want to cut his road trip short. In ‘Baby Not Onboard’ when the family realizes that they have left Stewie at home, Louis wants to go back but Peter selfishly wants to continue his holiday.

2. He Easily ‘Leggo My Meg-o’

In the season ten episode ‘Leggo My Meg-o’, Peter was the epitome of bad parenting. This episode was a hilarious trope of the movie ‘Taken’ and Peter is on the call with Meg when she gets kidnapped. However, instead of trying to find her, Peter announces to Louis that Meg has died. Peter has always mistreated Meg but this shows his blatant indifference for her. Stewie and Brian saved Meg from being trafficked although Meg seemed happy about it.

1. Peter Tried To Marry Chris To Steal His Money

Chris became rich when his grandfather, Carter Pewterschmidt left him money for spending time with him. Peter suddenly gains interest in his newly rich son and starts spending time with Chris. However, Peter is only interested in Chris’ money. Episode fourteen of season twelve, titled ‘Fresh Heir‘ is absurdly hilarious when Peter tries to marry his son to possess Chris’ money. However, the episode becomes sadder when Chris reveals he knew his father’s ulterior motives but let it happen because he wanted to spend time with him.
