The favorite 90s animated children’s cartoon, Powerpuff girls gets a live-action remake by the CW, the broadcasting company known for their famous shows like The Flash and Riverdale, started the filming for the show in April, last year.
The show stars actresses Chloe Bennet, Dove Cameron, and Yanna Perrault in the lead roles of Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup. The project seems to have been run into a dead end as rumours are doing rounds that the show is undergoing re-development after the pilot episode was rejected by the CW.
The Producer Of The Show Reveals The Reason Behind The Delay
The producer of the show Greg Berlanti whose previous projects have been Riverdale and Arrowverse had joined hands with Diablo Cody and Heather Regnier for writing the pilot episode. As no updates have come forward, speculations have been made about the show, some of them saying, this might be the end of the show.
Though rebuking these claims TVLine confirms that Powerpuff is still in the re-development phase, their exact words are “I am assured that the CW’s live-action adaptation of the Powerpuff Girls, after coming in last spring “too campy”, is still in some stage of development.”

They also updated the fans on the news that it no longer casts Chloe Bennet who was playing the role of Blossom, which is due to “scheduling conflicts”. Chloe departs to join the MCU as Daisy Johnson, her character is Quake.
What Does The Future Hold For Powerpuff Girls
Other than these changes no other news has come out. Though the uncertainty around this project still remains of whether it would actually go forward or not. This could also be because of the new deal by Warner Media and Paramount where they are currently looking to sell the CW.
This has for sure changed certain things around, beginning with how the network would operate with new original programming. We can also not forget about the Warner Bros. Discovery merger that was completed just last month. The CW Upfronts are said to take place on Thursday, May 19 and fans are looking forward to it in the hopes of finding out more about the Powerpuff live-action remake.
