‘Daredevil: Born Again’ season 2 had a major impact on Matt Murdock’s life in the MCU. And it might have also set up a surprising replacement for the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen, too.
Since Daredevil’s identity was revealed to the world, Matt’s story went downhill as he ended up in prison. The final scene was a dramatic one, and it left one huge question: “Who is protecting Hell’s Kitchen now that Daredevil is behind bars?
Matt Murdock’s Prison Fate Could Trigger Two Major MCU Comebacks

Two familiar Marvel characters may be able to step into Daredevil’s shoes. Season 2 already went all out to bring back the original Netflix Defenders corner of Marvel. Krysten Ritter reprised the role of Jessica Jones for a major role in the final episodes. Mike Colter also made a surprise appearance as Luke Cage in the final episode.

It was very emotional for Marvel fans who’ve been waiting years for these street-level heroes to be back together. However, Matt’s jail time could lead to two even larger payouts: Iron Fist and Elektra. In Marvel Comics, both characters have famously taken over as Daredevil at different points in Matt’s life.
Danny Rand has worn the Daredevil suit to preserve Matt’s anonymity, and Elektra’s Daredevil was a much darker and more complicated take on the character. It was one of the most interesting arcs that Elektra went on to experience, as she tried to abide by Matt’s “no killing” rule. However, now, the MCU appears to be in an ideal position to do just that.
Marvel Is Rebuilding The Defenders

There’s already clear evidence that Marvel is moving in that direction. Finn Jones is rumored to be returning as Iron Fist with Luke Cage and Jessica Jones in ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ season 3. It’s been a while since the characters from the Netflix era were mentioned.

Now, suddenly, Marvel seems to have decided to bring the Defenders back into the spotlight. In the meantime, fans have also begun to wonder if Elodie Yung will return as Elektra, as the actress teased her presence in New York during the filming of season 3.
With recent teases of the Hand in upcoming MCU projects, it doesn’t seem impossible that Elektra could come back. And honestly, the idea of someone else wearing the Daredevil mask while Matt sits in prison adds exactly the kind of emotional tension this series thrives on.
