David Fincher’s possible involvement with the world of ‘Squid Game’ is not far-fetched. The themes of the show are dominated by everyday people thrust into deadly, twisted scenarios, which is reminiscent of Fincher’s 1997 thriller ‘The Game’, starring Michael Douglas. Both stories explore ordinary lives unraveling in extraordinary, terrifying circumstances, a hallmark of Fincher’s work on films like ‘Se7en’ and ‘Gone Girl’.

Netflix has not commented on the project to date, but sources report that ‘Utopia’ writer Dennis Kelly will write the series.

Fincher has been pondering what’s next since wrapping his latest film, ‘The Killer’, which premieres this month. Meanwhile, Squid Game’ Season 2 hits the screen on December 26.
