David Lipper, who has been an integral part of ‘Full House‘ almost didn’t star on the show, as the actor has revealed now. His part came along after an unaired pilot, starring a young Hilary Swank and Kaley Cuoco, that never saw the light of day.
The actor made the surprising revelation to his co stars, calling his role on the show a ‘consolation prize.’ Here’s everything the actor revealed about how he got the iconic role.
Why David Lipper’s Role On ‘Full House’ Was A Consolation Prize
David Lipper, known for his role in ‘Full House‘, recently revealed on a podcast hosted by his former costars Jodie Sweetin and Andrea Barber that he was offered the role of Viper, a goofball rocker, as a consolation after a pilot he was supposed to be a part of got cancelled by NBC at the last minute.
“The president of Warner Bros. at the time — Warner Bros. Television — he said to me, ‘Look, we’re fans. I’m a fan. We’re going to put you on another show,” said Lipper. “And that’s when they put me on Full House.”
The pilot was originally titled The Secret Life of Harry Greene before being renamed as Reality Check, Lipper added.
“This was like a big, big — they actually thought this had a better shot than Friends because we had huge test scores. We ranked the highest Warner Bros. pilot,” the actor said. But then, as Lipper pointed out, “Fox got the rights to football over the summer,” since “we were going to be on Sundays between Married with Children and The Simpsons.”
