There have been countless times that ‘The Simpsons‘, an animated show about a family of five has predicted significant events. With Kamala Harris’ candidacy for the Presidential run making headlines, netizens are pointing out the similarities between what’s happening in America and an episode of the show.

In the March 2000 episode ‘Bart to the Future’, Lisa Simpson becomes the President of the United States, while her brother Bart is depicted as a White House freeloader. But what has struck many is Lisa’s outfit on the episode.

Her iconic purple blazer and pearl necklace had a striking resemblance to Kamala Harris’ outfit when she took her oath as the first female Vice President of the United States. And the internet is going crazy over it, further contending that ‘The Simpsons‘ prediction about first female president may come true.

While netizens cannot keep calm about the coincidence that has resurfaced again, ‘The Simpsons‘ writer Al Jean has also commented on the matter. Taking to X to comment on the similarities between the episode and the current US political scenario, he wrote, “The Simpsons ‘prediction’ I’m proud to be a part of,” along with a photo of Lisa and Kamala.

While he clearly showed his subtle support for Kamala Harris’s candidacy in the presidential race, he did not provide any reasoning behind the co-incidence. The Simpsons’ has made several predictions throughout the years in their episodes, though Al Jean feels they are all mere coincidences.

If you write 700 episodes and you don’t predict anything, then you’re pretty bad. If you throw enough darts, you’re going to get some bullseyes,” Jean explained. However, the social media frenzy would perhaps mellow down only after the elections.
